Product Description Imaginations will soar as kids explore the KidKraft Metropolis Train Table Set. This urban scene comes with 100 colorful pieces, including the magnetic three-car train that glides above the town on the elevated track. A double-decker suspension bridge and tall mountain give even greater height to this towering railroad. Each piece is crafted for fun and for safety, and the whole set packs neatly away in the jumbo storage drawer. From the Manufacturer Our Metropolis Table and Train Set lets kids take control of an entire city!
Keep building with the construction crew, bulldozer and real working crane that picks up blocks and moves them around. Just lift and lower using the turn knob
Take to the skies with the airplane or helicopter and find both a runway and a heliport in the town for when it's time to land
Everything a city needs is included: people, cars, buildings, signs and more—all perfectly sized for little hands to maneuver. When done playing, store in the large drawer below
Move materials across the water with the barge that can hold two shipping containers. Use the crane later to hook them on and move to shore
Durable wooden construction means play that can make many treks around the tracks without wearing out
Our train sets and tables are compatible with other major toy train brands, such as Brio and Thomas and Friends. Add on sets and chug along seamlessly
We love it! My son plays with his train table all the time I glued down the tracks with gorilla wood glue so the tracks won’t get lost or knocked down.We got this table for my daughter for her 2nd birthday because she is into trains and loved playing with the train sets at the Library and the bookstore. Over all we are happy with the purchase. My husband put the table itself together in about 20 minutes. Instructions are a bit lacking but not impossible. The only issue he had was the wheels on the drawer. They are a bit difficult to screw in. We did have to order a replacement wheel because the threads did no line up with the hole. The ordering process for the replacement part was pretty simple but make sure to keep all of your paperwork and receipt and be ready to take a picture of the issue if you need a replacement. Hopefully it comes quickly. The train set took me about 20 minutes to assemble. Again the instructions are a bit lacking but I was still able to figure it out. Each of the joints has something to hold the two pieces together so you cannot use and do not need the suretrack clips that are recommended to buy with this. The set does move on the table easily so we have to keep adjusting it but we do not want to glue it down at this point. My 2 year old has knocked over the parts a few times but nothing I cannot fix quickly and has only been 2 or 3 times in the last 3 days. There is no lip around the table like many other tables so things can easily slide off. I'm sure if you do not plan to change or move the set then you could glue it down and it would be really sturdy and stable. Some of the pieces they give you with the set don't really make sense. Like you get a set of giant flat wood people that are bigger than the trains and you get a giant wood basketball hoop that is again bigger than the trains. Seems like a waste to me, I'd rather have more trains. We also notice the crane's hook does not go down far enough to reach the cargo pieces. A minor thing but my daughter was frustrated she couldn't just lift the cargo off the little boat they give you. Over all the quality seems a bit less than more expensive and name brand sets and probably in the future we will upgrade if our daughter enjoys it enough. For the price it is a good set. The table quality is good. I'm sure over time it will get scratches in it but everything at this price range seems to scratch over time. Wish the drawer attached to the table but it works well. A bit heavy to pull out. The color of the table is a dark cherry color. The Thomas the Train wooden track trains DO fit these tracks. The Thomas the Train Take and Play trains, the Thomas Minis, and the Thomas TrackMaster trains DO NOT fit this track. Over all, for the price it is a nice set. If you have a die hard train enthusiast, and you can afford the better sets, I would go with the better sets. If just want a general set of good but not top tier quality for a decent price, this is the set for you.My son loves it.I wish the tracks would stay together sturdier, so when he wants to take them off the table we don't have to go through everything again to put it all back together. It's hard to assemble.I almost allowed the 1 star ratings to deter me from buying this table but in the end we decided to give it a try. We are THRILLED with this train table. I am wondering if it was improved since all the lower ratings were given? No cheap parts here, everything is sturdy. There IS a (small) lip around the entire table - it isn't much but we have never had a problem with cars or trains rolling off. The trundle fits perfectly and is huge - lots of space to store toys. The table is very well made and looks beautiful. It is also VERY big which is great for us - lots of play space on top. One of the best compliments I received was "Oh wow did you buy a new coffee table?" (when we had it flipped to the plain brown tabletop side". Did not look like a train table. My son has used it every day (more like every hour) since we got it for Christmas 3 months ago and it doesn't have a single chip. He is 2, and it should be chipped by now with how he plays on it but it isn't.I numbered the tracks underneath and now it only takes me about 10 minutes to set it all up. There is one small area of tracks that falls a lot but we are going to fix it with some velcro. We have the train tracks up half of the time, and the other half of the time the large tabletop printed with the road/grass/water/dirt is perfect for him to play with his Little People, monster trucks, matchbox cars, mini skateboards, Legos and animal figures. He seriously spends most of his playtime using this table in one way or another.Only thing I am not thrilled with is that the table top is divided into 2 parts so there is a seam down the middle. Not that big of a deal but kinda annoying-looking when you have it flipped to the plain espresso-finished side.Definitely one of our best kid purchases ever!UPDATE: 1 Year LaterWe have now had this table for almost exactly a year and everything I said originally is still true! It has held up beautifully! Now 80% of the time my son uses the tabletop for something other than trains - usually Legos, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Army Guys, etc - it is awesome with all the scenery on it especially the water (perfect for the Tic Toc Croc). The train and all parts have all held up perfectly as well. I did easily add tiny velcro strips to several of the curved track pieces and that works perfectly to keep the track in place. The top of the table has a good amount of dings and dents but it would have to be made of concrete not to with how he plays on it, and it really doesn't show because of the scenery printed on it. He uses this table for hours and hours each day - it is where he plays most of the day. I still consider it our best kid purchase. This product is good size for any child that likes trains and also very easy to hide the set as it flips from painted to similar colour piece of rest of table. It was so what easy to set took about 2 hours ish each bridge had to be put together as well as the table. The table is very durable only downside is some of the track that has plastic tips on it have broken off not sure why … one last note to set up whole station takes about 30mins.It’s a good idea but poorly done. The wooden unit is not set up straight. They actually stuck the piece for the wheels over the hole where the screw that’s holding it has to go in. So we had to open it with a knife. The medal connections that hold the base are not straight so once you put the top of the table on it it sticks out. It’s an expensive item and a famous brand why not to make it properly and save the hassle to the parents. Seriously. It’s like they didn’t care... what am I going to do now with the table that is one sided:/ and as soon as you lean on the other side the whole toy city falls:(( very disappointingMy twins enjoyed this immensely, the product is super easy to put together and while it took a few moments to understand the track pattern it is easy to put together as well.My only complaint is the stands the tracks sit on there is no way to tighten them and in most scenarios the track always falls apart, other then that it’s perfect and something a little glue might help solveFor a 2 year old it works great. I see the complaints about it not being with the money. We live in BC and $300 is currently one weeks groceries. So it is worth every penny considering the detail and pieces involved. We found ( 2 of us ) easy to out together as long as you read the instructions. I have played with all types of train sets from Mellisa and George to expensive and they all have the same issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again.Love this train table for my 3.5 year old, easy to assemble if you are confident putting furniture together. It doesn’t have a step by step of how to assemble the tracks but not too hard to figure out once you get the hang of it. The “drawer” isn’t attached it rolls in and out on castors but is large enough to hold my sons entire car collection on one side and blocks on the other
