This trilogy took me few months to finish because of hectic work schedule, but this is kind of book you want to read through. Twists and turns that makes you feel sad and amused.Really enjoyed that not all that looks angelic or monstrous also is like that.Cried few times reading and ending gave me few tears.I recommend reading it. Enemies to lovers and then to enemies and back to lovers...My wife reads many historical fantasy novels and authors. We have met quite a few of them at signings and national events. I am merely her official “photographer and book obtainer”, so I really don’t know anything about what I have ordered and she has read. I have had to build extra shelves in our home to accommodate the vast library she has acquired and read. One shelf is about to break from the many hard backs she has stacked on it. I foresee our den being compared to Lord Grantham’s Library eventually. Rolling Ladders and high back chairs with a butler just through the next door. She only reads books from her favorite authors and favorites from her reading group at work. So, if I have composed a review for a book on amazon like this one, I can assure you she has read it and enjoyed it and heavily discussed it with her group of co-workers. Consider this a recommendation by my wife for an excellent and enjoyable read. These books were great! I read most of the negative reviews before purchasing... there is no sex in it, it hints a lot at it but so did Twilight. The closest it got to it was a rape scene in book 2. well it was an attempted rape scene since Karou valiantly fought of her attacker. yes there is a forbidden romance, but if you read any other young adult book you'll find there to be some PDA and some sort of love that shouldn't be. This author is also not afraid to say the atomically correct words for parts of the body. but as for the "adult" content... it is mild.My scale of "adult" content:Tame -- The Selection (PG)Mild -- Twilight, Throne of Glass (PG-13)Spicy -- A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy, V.C Andrews (R, R+)I am... disappointed about this series, it had a good start interesting with collecting teeth and the different beasts of all kinds but then the guy comes around and its all fire and sparkles that cannot be explained it just is, it also makes the guy weak falling hard for the protagonist which is a pity, he has potential. The war between the angels and the beast, good vs evil, how it started... well take a look at the anime/manga Shin Sekai Yori (great plot btw) and its the same damn thing. How dissapoint, I was hoping for something original which it was until it fell into the trope. This is on book one, paid for all three so will finish the rest, I Karou (hope) it gets betterDaughter of Smoke and Bone was at a rental property we enjoyed for a few days. Out of curiosity, I began reading it and devoured it. Eventually, I got the entire trilogy and enjoyed them all. I am 40+ with adult children....you don't get too old for so called 'young adult' literature. Often, it is the best stuff out there. Highly recommended.I really love this series and just bought it for my niece. She is 11 and maybe a little young for it, as there are some mature themes, but they are handled tastefully. This is a huge step up from books like Twilight (which was so bad I couldn't read it and would NEVER give to my niece) and even Hunger Games (which had a great first book, but went down hill after that). However, this series will probably appeal to the same audience and each book is solid and well written. Such a creative writer and a couple of really wonderful heroines. What a read! Love this world and the reality and dream of it. Karou and Akiva have many things to overcome in this final book. The reader is on a constant rollercoaster. Hang on there. The ending is fitting for this epic tale. The story is a lot more profound than you might think at first. It makes a compelling statement on war, hate, and the battle and sacrifice it takes to be an instrument of change. Those who said it was just a love story about two people that didn't know each other very well, weren't paying attention. The connection that the characters feel has a lot to do with the shared vision they have for a better world. My favorite part of this story was how original it was and how charmingly bizarre the world she created is at times. I've never read anything quite like these books.is just the classic new paperback books they are lying to the add not the hardcover box set edition already ask for refund but they want me to go through a return go to post waste time etc I will not do it and they where apologizing for there mistake but I am sure they know they are lying to there add and the description and they try to sell it anyway ... don’t waste your money you will receive paperback as on the pictures I wish amazon could take my money back at listLoved loved loved this series. Read the sample and bought the trilogy without hesitation. Somehow manages to mix down to earth humour with the fantastical. Liked how it was set on earth AND in another world at the same time. Don't think many authors could master such a complex plot while keeping the characters so real, the dialogue so engaging and the narrative so thrilling and often unexpected. Was really bowled over by this. So glad a friend recommended it...kept me entranced from beginning to end. Bought on 23rd and had finished by 28th. Now feeling a bit bereft. My only very tiny criticism was that sometimes felt there were a bit too many strands to accept...magic, resurrection, wishes like currency, worlds, other lives, teeth that somehow became bodies, a huge mix of different chimera, hamsas, the fallen....etc etc! But the author pulled it all off and pulled it off with amazing skill. Would highly recommend.A beautiful and unique imagining of a never-before-told tale whic left me breathless and constantly hopeful in the midst of anguish and despair. In truth a delight - the humour, beauty, imagination, tenderness and excitement all balance so well. What a story!! You go on a mammoth journey with Karou and live life alongside her.I don't want to give anything away, but you must have a read of this story, you will not stop with the first book.Absolutely fantastic, I wish it were true. It's been ages since I,'ve read a fantasy that captivates and keeps on growing throughout. A great mix of earth and wings. Thank you....
